ABOUT CANADIAN WEATHERSTICK

Where does the Canadian Weather Stick coming from?

The Canadian Weather Stick is coming from The Round Barn. It is a family-owned business based in Thessalon, Ontario, Canada. It is owned by Mark and his wife Heather.  They have been selling Canadian Weather Stick for over 30 years.

Canadian Weather Stick SURFING THEORY:

(This is actually the principle used in the kind of ‘surfing’ you might be thinking of!)

In a nutshell, wild storms in the middle of oceans and seas are ‘low pressure’ systems, so they create what is called a ‘surf’. We’ll leave the nitty gritty of it to the experts, but a Weatherstick changes shape according to this pressure.

Stick pointing up = High pressure

Stick pointing down = Low pressure

(Remember the kind of surfing you were thinking of? Well surfers in Cornwall, England rely on their Weathersticks just as much as they do on surfing boards – to pick the right waves!)

What’s more, Weatherstick accuracy levels have been likened to those of an actual barometer – so this is 100% science, 100% natural.

What is Canadian Weather Stick?

The Weatherstick came before the mercury barometer! It is approximately 40cm long and was first used by natives in America and Canada. Those guys saw how dry branches would often be harbingers of weather changes.
